Anxiety and worry- we use these words interchangeably but they are not the same thing. The dictionary defines anxiety as “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome” and worry as “a state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems.” Similar, but not the same.
Let’s look at differences between anxiety and worry:

When I work with people who tell me they have anxiety, one of the first things I do is determine if they are experiencing anxiety, worry or both because the way to treat them are different. Anxiety is considered the ‘common cold’ of mental health issues, because it is so common. As a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Provider (CCATP), I have additional training on evidence-based techniques that will help you manage anxiety.
Anxiety is highly treatable! If you are struggling with anxiety and/or worry, contact me to schedule an appointment. Let’s get started on you controlling anxiety instead of it controlling you.
