May is Mental Health Month

Every May, Yurk Counseling Services, in partnership with Mental Health America Sheboygan, participates in events that educate the community about mental health and area resources.

Wendy Yurk, MS, LPC and Jonathan Tyler, MA. LPC, SAC-IT both on the Board of Directors for Mental Health America, and Tina Gray-Siebers, an intern at Yurk Counseling
Services, will offer their service for free mental health screenings for adults the week of May 23-27. In addition, they will offer free mental health assessments for children ages 3-17 years, which is a service provided by Yurk Counseling Services throughout the year.

So, how do you know if you should have a mental health screening? If you are having any of the following symptoms, you may want to get screened.

  • Loss of interest in activities
  • Persistent sadness
  • Sleep problems
  • Unexplained changes in weight
  • Feeling hopeless about the future
  • Angry outbursts
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Feeling tense and irritable
  • Constantly worrying
  • Using drugs/alcohol to feel good

Mental well-being is important all year long. To learn more about mental health services,
